On a forested mountainside with valley views, this casual resort is 7 km from the Kali ka Tibba Hindu temple and 25 km from the Chail Sanctuary.  Featuring traditional decor and either tiled or hardwood floors, the colourful rooms offer flat-screen TVs, balconies, and tea and coffee making facilities. Chail, on the Sadh Tiba Hill, is a popular hill station located in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at a height of 2250 meters above sea level. Before 19th century, Chail was a small mountain village in scenic locales of Himachal Pradesh. Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala built Chail, when he was exiled from Shimla and decided to create his own summer capital, which was Chail. The present day hill station of Chail is spread over an area of three adjacent hills namely Rajgarh, Pandava and Siddh Tibba hills.

It houses world’s highest cricket ground at an elevation of 2444 meters above sea level. This cricket ground along with a Polo ground was owned by the Royal family of Patiala. The area is surrounded by beautiful Chir Pine and Deodar forests. One can also have a view of Shimla and Kasauli hill stations from Chail at night. Chail gives a beautiful view of river Sutlej down the Chail valley.

There is also a beautiful view of Himalayan ranges and snowcapped peaks. It is a beautiful hill town which enables you to enjoy the beauty of nature peacefully.

  • Rastriya Military School - one of the five Rastriya Military Schools of country where approx. 300 cadets from all parts of country are groomed to be the future leaders of country.
  • Chail Sanctuary (3 km) - covers an area of about 10,854.36 hectares. The Deodar and Oak forests with grasslands around the township are the abode of wildlife.
  • Sadhupul - halfway between Kandaghat and Chail is the tiny village of Sadhupul, and the bridge over the Ashwani stream, a popular picnic - spot.
  • Cricket Ground - surrounded by gigantic deodar and well maintained Chail Cricket ground is the highest cricket ground in the world. Built in 1893, this cricket pitch located at the height of 2,144m is also used as polo ground.
  • Chail Military School - situated in ancient buildings made by Maharaja of Patiala.
  • Chail Gurudwara - it was the first building to be constructed by the Maharaja and after that the palace was built.

  • Sidh Baba Ka Mandir: Maharaja Bhupinder Singh had originally intended this to be the site of his palace, and had even started building it, but as is believed, a ‘sidh’, saintly person appeared in the Maharaja’s dream, and declared that this was the place where he had meditated. Consequently, Bhupinder Singh shifted his venue and built a temple on the spot.
